That's what my doctor told me one time when I asked. In fact the doctor told me to look in the mirror first before I do my self exam. Check to see if they're "lopsided" (is only way I can think of to describe it) and not even. Also, check to make sure the nipple area isn't misshappen or that anything hasn't changed in that area as well.

I'm especially conscious of all of this because lumps were found when I was 27, luckily they turned out to be nothing at this point but it still was scary as heck while undergoing all the tests. Now my mom is recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous lump. It looks like they got all the cancer from the milk duct but there were cells found in the capillaries. Since the cancer was the aggressive type 1 mom is probably going to have to undergo chemo with the radiation she already knew about. All of that has really driven home the point to make sure I do the exams a bit more faithfully then I have been the last few years as I hadn't felt anything.
