My hypothetical response may have been . . . and its off the cuff:
Dear Sir,
After reading your letter to the editor I came to the conclusion that you are mostly right! There are a lot of greeks on campus.
And like you, I see them wherever I go.
I go to community service events and charities, and not only do I see Greeks there, they are often sponsoring the events.
I confess that I don't like football much but I go to games to support our team and show school spirirt, and I see Greeks there doing the same.
I see them in all my classes, in the halls, in various cross disciplinary activities, and they seem to represent all majors.
I know I sound trite to you saying that educating the youth of America is important, but nevertheless, I am heartened that so many Greeks may have chosen that career field.
I am truly sorry that your experience with a few people that have rubbed you wrong seems to have colored your perceptions of thousands of people you have never met and will never likely meet.
