I just had to get this out. I think we are just too critical when it comes to the color complex. I think that this topic has received so many hits because Black folk are still caught up in the color complex issue. Just look at the language used here to describe people like myself who are lighter skin..."high yellow", etc. I think that some valid points have been raised here....but one that is indirectly related is the whole issue of who someone chooses to date.
Why did folk get upset when they saw Babyface with a light skin woman? Maybe it points to an anger about the prevelance of interracial dating these days. My response to that is this: I don't care who the brother is dating...I'm glad when he does choose a sista....and look, there are so many complexion choices...from butter pecan tan to rich ebony. But beyond that, brothers are looking at more than the superficial these days...women must become more attuned to those things and stop concentrating so much on externalities....and beyond that...make sure that you are happy with yourself...'cause if you aren't no matter what you look like, no one will want to be in your company.
