The Nebraska Chapter, the Alpha Tau of Beta Theta Pi, was founded on September 14th 1888. That night, the Industrial Parade was being held in Lincoln. 7 of our 8 founders were initiated, while the 8th, Harley P. Mathewson, mysteriously never initiated despite the fact that his name was first on all petitioning documents. Arrangements were made for Mathewson to be initated at the 25th anniversary of the chapter, but he never made the trip from California.
This year marks our 115th year of continual existence, never once having been closed as a chapter since the founding.
