The question I asked wasn't even a "hot" debate-inducing question. We had been given an assignment, where we had to write a report on a prophet. We were given a list of "approved" prophets from which to pick. On the list was Sarah. I saw that and said something like "Oh, I didn't know Sarah was considered a prophet." My CCD teacher completely lost it and told me to shut up and accept what I was told... then she called in the director of the CCD program (a nun who had just started there the previous fall) and SHE lost it and started screaming at me in front of my entire class, for being "disrespectful" to my teacher.

After that incident, my father pulled me out of CCD and taught me from a catechism for the rest of the year. The catechism's question and answer format kind of bothered me - it struck me as saying "Here are all the questions you'll ever need to ask about your faith, and look! Here are the answers!" This especially bothered me because the whole reason I was learning from a catechism was that I'd gotten thrown out of CCD for asking a question.
I was re-enrolled in the 8th grade confirmation class the following year. Interestingly enough, the CCD program had a new director by that time.......
