I think John Pritchett (Mari Ann Fowler's son) said it best when he said that the task force got their feelings hurt from the criticism they recieved and that the TF needed to stand in their place to realize what real pain feels like.
I am just so disappointed about the lack of professionalism shown by this task force. The Yoder family, who has fully supported and cooperated and to this day publicly supports the task force did not even receive a phone call when the suspect was found!! The TF should be grateful to this family, after all it was their daughter whose evidence brought up the red flag to Derrick Lee. Bless her soul for holding on to the DNA after such a horrible murder.

I am not for one minute suggesting that the tf didn't work hard or that they didn't want this murderer off our streets just as much as we did. However, they knew they were not trained to catch a serial killer or else the criticism would not have effected them so much if they truly felt that they were doing all they could.

Don't you think those statements are a little harsh and full of ignorance?? No offense but those men has wives and daughters and some were even women themselves... It's not like they were totally unaffected by this... I am just greatful that they caught him at all... I mean really, do you know how many serial killers there have been that were never caught?? We should all just thank our lucky stars that he was caught... Unless you yourself were a member of the task force any information you receive is just hearsay, one thing we need to learn is to not take everything in the news media reports for the absolute truth. How many times have they had to put retractions/corrections?? Quite a few times... Also, there is so much "spin" in the news media now. The rise in popularity of "investigative reporting" in the 70's also brought about a rise in false reports and aligations. I just think all this criticism of these people who worked day and night for such a long time is uncalled for. Instead of trash talking we should be thanking them for all that they have done not what they didn't do or could've done. We all make mistakes. That's not something that the police and investigative authorities aren't prone to do. We are all just human beings afterall. Have some compassion!

sorry
