We have a couple cream puffs to start the season before aTm rolls into town... we beat them last year on their home turf (the first out of conference team to do it in 12 years). The rest of the schedule is pretty favorable, with most of the tough games in Blacksburg. Our defense will be great again... we won't have the depth problems of last year in the middle of the D (youth and injuries plagued us against the run last season). Our defensive line and secondary will be UNBELIEVABLE, with just about every starter returning. Our backfield wont miss a beat with the graduation of Lee Suggs to the NFL. Even though he broke a 30 year old NCAA records for TDs in consecutive games (with 26 games i believe), we've got the guy who Suggs shared time with last season back in action. Kevin Jones was the number one high school recruit two years ago and will be returning for his true-junior year to lead the backfield full of stallllions. QB- goes without saying. We have Bryan Randall back who went 10-4 as the starter last year as a true sohpomore (beating the likes of LSU and aTm)... and then we have little Marcus Vick waiting in the wings.... yeah Mikie's little brother. Any QB contoversy is a good one bc both of these guys can lead our team. At WR we have Ernest Wilford returning who shatttttttered BIG EAST records last year for yards and catches in a game. For the past two years weve jumped out to quick starts (8-0 and a #3-4 ranking last year) and then lost a few heartbreakers due to injury. Hopefully this year our linebacking crew has shored itself up and we wont experience those problems again, with the lack of depth in the two-deep. Our offensive line will make or break our team this year-- we really need to see some improvement over last year. Special teams shouldnt be a problem-- Frank Beamer is known for his ST and we lead the nation in kick and punt blocks over the last 15 years. We've lost to Miami for 3 straight years, but before that we had 5 in a row against the Canes. We'll look to break the streat against them. Also we'll go for our tenth straight against Boston College and 5th straight against those stupid Hoos from UVA. With two legit Heisman candidates in Kevin Jones and DeAngelo Hall (two-way guy), we ought to pull out all the stops in 03. If we play up to our potential, we definitely warrant the preseason rankings and stand a good chance of going undefeated. yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah hokies....!!!
