It is TRUE that many employers assume that a woman getting pregnant may not come back to work or be able to fulfill her job duties.

Men veterinarians have higher saleries in general than women vets (I call it the "dick salary or contract")-there have been several articles about it in JAVMA (Journal of the American Veterinary Association)-it seems though some women don't care b/c of the attitude:"I'll just live off my husband".
That is so annoying for the rest of us who don't have husbands or that don't want to liver off of their salary. Until women change their attitudes and demand more it probably won't change. There are also a lot of "old school" men veterinarians that still treat women like second class workers-I can't wait until this breed retires.
