me too! I used to be sad that i didn't have a nickname opposed to my entire family until one day in Junior high I was called "Heater" by one of my friends. She just thought,since it was similar to Heather but shorter it worked.
But it stuck. I was known to all my teachers and friends as Heater all the way up to high school and I am still called it by some friends today. (but my AOL screen name doesn't help either: Heatermae8; I've had it since jr. high and I have friends I didn't even meet till college that will sometimes call me Heater.) Its very childish but oh well, it isn't something I hear very often anymore.
