The issue here is that as Sec of Labor, she would be charged with upholding the laws and policies that she blatantly disobeyed by hiring the illegal immigrant. This 'skeleton' has a direct bearing on her job whereas I beleive that the Clinton nominee did not (if I recall correctly).

**And you know Jay Leno let her have it with both barrels!**

This is also the reason why Ashcroft should not be Attorney General (and also because N4L said so!)

I'm referring to the recent withdrawl of Linda Chavez as the nominee for Secretary of Labor. She knew she would be investigated and placed under a microscope. Everyone knows the media will leave no rock unturned these days.

Sometimes the things that are uncovered are irrelevant. I think it may keep a lot of good people out of politics, aspiring for a higher office, or destroy reputations.

In this particular situation, she finally admitted to trying to cover up her role in assisting illegal immigrants. She admitted that she was not forthcoming and completely honest with the Bush transition team.

Then, at a press conference she paraded around all these people she helped. I don't fault her for helping folks when they are down, but she still broke the law. Or, I guess they think it's ok if they break the law as long as it's a good deed.
