I defintely agree that there is a lot of pressure on the Diamond Pairings to be the best of friends. A lot of the other sororities place such an emphasis on their "Big" and "Little" relationships; when really the Diamond sister is merely the special friend who leads you through Initiation-- you have a chapter full of sisters to be your best friends for life. Objectively, that is the way we are supposed to see it, but even as an International Officer, I still would like more emphasis placed on the Diamond Sister relationship. I think having such a short new member program has a lot to do with it, not to mention that we get assigned diamond sisters so quickly (or for those of you out there getting them right before Initiation, we're supposed to get them within 10 days of our bids during Formal Recruitment, and within 24 hours of accepting COR bids). It's hard to determine within that short amount of time which alpha-delta pairings will work out the best, and alphas have such limited input as to who their diamond sis will be.
