I'll never forget when I met my ex-fiancee's family for the first time. I wanted to bring something but was running behind (since I was traveling to Austin then to San Antonio.
So...I ordered some filet mingons from OmahaSteaks.com and got them the veggies and NY Cheese Cake to go with and then had it overnighted. They were really appreciative.
For something like this, I may bring a desert, a plant or flower, a candle, some tea? Anything small and nothing too extravegant so you look like you're trying too hard. Besides, bringing a home-made desert proves you're able to handle the kitchen well!
