I will be the first one to do anything in my family, and it's been a hard road because people didn't understand the things I had to do as a college student. Now that my mom (who's 50) is in college (im sooooo proud of her), she is starting to see what I was talking about all those times I said I had to study.
My grandparents died when my mother was a little girl. They were from a small town in Georgia (which still only has a population of about 1000), and I know they never thought thier children would be doctors and engineers or things of that nature. I've always wondered what they would think if they could see their offspring now.
Again, congradulations on graduation

Just curious, but what part of GA is your family from?
I understand what you ladies mean...It took my mother 8 years to finish her undergraduate degree because she would run out of money, go back home and work, run out of $$, go back home and work, etc. Through it all though, she never gave up. She was also the first in her family to graduate from college. She later went on to get a masters degree as well. She made sure that my sister and I never had to worry about a thing and had four years of paid college. She told us "If you can get in, I'll make sure you stay in." When I think about how much she sacrificed for me.....Whew! Twelve years after my college graduation I still get teary eyed.
