Wouldn't it be great to completely smoosh the two conferences together, and cull the "dead weight." I'll refrain from giving an opinion on what I'd consider to be the "dead weight" in the ACC/Big East since I'm an outsider...

(although I did go to ND for law school, so I'm not a complete outsider)
On the other hand, which schools are considered "dead weight" will be different depending on whether you're talking about football, baseball, or basketball (the big 3 sports).
Heck, I wish we could cull some Big XII dead weight right now. I'd trade Baylor for TCU any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.
And Marshall has been in the MAC since 1997 (they were also in the conference from 1954-1968). Before that, they were in the Southern Conference, and before that they were independent.
