Sup Peeps,
Many of you have asked me about my literary work or where to find it. However, due to the discreteness of this message board and other reasons, I am not allowed to reveal my name (BOO!).
I am happy that I am allowed to share this little bit of news with you. On May 15, 2003 the novel I am working on,
They Called Him Mike will be syndicated on DimeMind.com. I am writing under the name Still My Friend and you can send comments about the story to
stillmyfriend@hotmail.com. It has already made an appearance on a few websites/private chat boards already and I hope that it turns into a hit. The novel is about a friendship between a straight man and a gay man that blossoms over time. I have been told by people who have read the story that those of you who enjoy E. Lynn Harris’ work may also enjoy this story. I am still writing the story and new chapters will be posted every two weeks on the DimeMind.com website.
My editors and I have decided to use the website as a testing ground to see whether or not the content of my story can be enjoyed in book format. Towards the end of the novel, we will have a time period to let readers vote on whether or not they want to see
They Called Him Mike in print and their likelihood of buying the novel. If a significant percentage of readers vote yes, then the book will come out early to mid 2004, depending on completion time. The reason my editors and I decided to publish the book this way was so that we could get a feel for how the book may perform in the literary market. To give you the heads up, the story has received minimum editing partially due to the fact that one of the websites this story is published on has deadlines for the story. Please note that if the book gets published in print format, it will be thoroughly edited. We are just testing the storyline and flow of the book.
The reason that I am advertising DimeMind.com is that it is a new website for writers who want to submit their works for public viewing. The writer’s email address will be posted so you can provide them feedback about their story through their email address. As one of the editors, I am extending the invitation to you to submit your short stories if you so choose.
I want to thank all of you who continue to send words of encouragement and encourage me to submit scenes for “The Good, The Bad, The GC.” I hope you continue to enjoy my work. I will be making contributions in the night time as opposed to the day for now, I hope that works out.
In Unity,
112
P. S. – No, I don’t know 112 personally, but they are my favorite R&B group so that is where the name comes from
