I have seen a friend of mine go through an augmentation and another go through a reduction.
My friend who had the reduction was "5'1", 105 pounds, and an E cup. She had a difficult time finding clothing that fit her and she was spending $60 per bra to have them specially made. Not to mention the back pain she suffered. We were required to take a PE in high school. I remember she had to get a doctor's note that said she was unable to run because of her breasts. She would sit on the side of the track while all the students would snicker...they all pretty much knew the reason why she was excused from running. Her 18th b-day present from her parents was to have a breast reduction. It was definitely painful for her. I've heard that it's more painful to get them reduced than enlarged. But, she's so much happier now. Her body is more proportional, clothing fits her, she can buy regular bras, and she doesn't have to deal with any back pain. I know that it was definitely worth it for her.
A friend of mine got a breast augmentation when she was 19. It was because of a dramatic difference in size between her breasts....one was an A while the other was a C. For years, she was so scared to date guys for fear that the relationship would go to that next level where she'd have to take her bra off and let her boyfriend see her chest. She didn't have the confidence to date until after her breast augmentation. She was in pain for a few weeks but I know that it was worth it for her. She's so much more confident with herself.
