Thumbs up Mint Bucket

This is a family tradition of mine.. I know it goes at least 3 generations back. No one I know has actually ever heard of this drink was wondering if any of ya'll have?

Here's the recipe:

Start with a 5 gallon bowl
Line the bottom of the bowl with freshly cut mint leaves
put a layer of ice over the leaves
Next, put pieces of sweet fruit (no melons) in, I'd recommend strawberries, peaches, grapes, blueberries, etc...
Another layer of ice on top of the fruit.
Next you'll add 2 cans of pink lemonade and 1 litre bottle of ginger ale.
Add a little more ice on top of that...
Top it off with a litre bottle of vodka -- just pour it in.
Stir it lightly and let it sit for about 20 minutes so the fruit can marinate.

Now for the fun part

This is no ordinary drink.. If you drink it out of cups it just doesn't taste right. You must leave it in the bowl. You'll need a straw for anyone that wants to partake. Then you all sit around and suck out of the bowl til you can't see straight (doesn't take long).

Edited to add:

My family has these silver straws with spoons on the end so you can get at the fruit. Don't know if they still make anything like that.

Anyone heard of something like this?
