Theoretically, I would be on the management staff here in the states but still end up in Cancun for 4-5 months. Supposedly the company rents a condo for the staff that is down there.
Honstly, unless I am in Cancun for 4 months there is no point really, I can make a great deal more money doing other jobs in the states. The only point would be the experience.

The cost of living in Cancun is lower, but you make a hell of a lot less, too. If you are going to be down there for more than 6 months you can't use the tourism visa...you have to apply to get an F2 immigration visa.......this could be really hard to do, depending on who you talk to/ how much money you're willing to fork over.
Also, say you want an unfurnished apt.....this means TOTALLY UNFURNISHED. Its not like in the states where you still get a stove or microwave, washer or dryer.....they don't even give you bulbs for the lighting fixtures, and no I'm not kidding.
And you can't rent an apt. unless you have a trusty F2 visa...so you're kinda screwed....although sometimes you will find wary apt. managers who will be willing to rent to you if you have a lot of $$$ up front.
Could be a really fun job, but honestly b/c of the whole visa situation, its not worth doing it for a year. See if you can do a 3 month program with them. (Spring break is last week in feb until 2nd week in april.) Then, you can see whether or not the company is right for you.
Also, I'm confused....you're planning/managing AND going to be at the events???? Sounds weird...usually you're either a managment planner IN THE STATES or you are an event staffer and go to the sites (cancun, jamaica, etc...) what is the situation?
