Pinkice9,
I saw a special last year on 20/20 about Metabolife . Some individuals had serious reactions to ephedra, an herbal ingrediant in this product. It is the same as Mai Huang (sp?) used in diet teas. I think it is from China but I am not sure. Anyway, Mai Huang/ephedra has never been tested by the US.
Some people experienced migrains, nausea, and other minor side-effects while taking Metabolife. Others experienced more severe side-effects. One woman began taken Metabolife to lose her post pregnancy weight gain. After taking Metabolife, she had a stroke and was paralyzed on one side of her body. She had to re-learn how to walk, talk, etc. She couldn't even hold her baby.
The Metabolife company felt that there wasn't enough evidence to blame ephedra. However, I have noticed that they sell the product with and without this drug.
I am not trying to scare you. Just make sure you are really careful when taking this product. One of my co-workers used this product and had no problems at all. You may want to switch to the Metabolife w/o ephedra if you think this is what is causing those side-effects.
