All-Reality TV Channel Planned
(AP) - The audience appetite for reality television could be tested by a planned cable channel that will offer a diet of all reality, all the time. Reality Central, scheduled to debut in early 2004, is being developed by Larry Namer, co-founder of E! Entertainment Television, and Blake Mycoskie, a businessman who was a reality show contestant. Namer and Mycoskie contend that reality TV has proved its staying power and can attract and hold enough viewers for a niche channel.

Maybe this is a good thing. Hopefully, ALL of the reality shows will be shown on this channel and ONLY this channel.

Disney to Make Baseball Film in Louisiana
Tuesday April 29 7:58 AM ET

Taking advantage of Louisiana's new film incentive program, Walt Disney Pictures will begin shooting a baseball movie starring comedian Bernie Mac.

"Mr. 3000," to be produced by Disney's Touchstone division, is set to begin shooting May 28, said Tim Bourne, the film's producer.

Bourne said the project should result in some $14 million in direct spending in New Orleans. The film is set in Milwaukee but will be shot primarily in the New Orleans area.

"Not one shred of this movie belongs in the South, let alone New Orleans," Bourne said recently. "My movie has no reason to be here, except for the incentive."

The incentive program, which the Legislature adopted in spring 2002, offers state income tax credits of up to 15 percent to investors in movies made in Louisiana, a credit of up to 20 percent of payroll expenses and a sales tax exemption for productions costing more than $250,000.
