I found his letter to be very articulate. I'm impressed. The letter did sound like it had been written and saved, like CT4 said, "a form letter." I didn't find it to be spooky or anything because I didn't read it like that. It just seems to me that he is lonely and that he doesn't want to start corresponding with a person that is just in it for a few kicks, then will fall off. I see no problem with being his friend or penpal, but PLEASE be straight up with him and let him know that you are only trying to be cool with him. He is looking for a love connection. It gets like that sometimes. I tell my students that everyday. When you are on the scene, you have friends all over. When you go down, you can't get a letter or visit from these same people that were supposed to ride and die for you....
