Take them back to the store...

At American Eagle they will replace them with a new pair. I mean they can't be like 85 years old but if they are fairly new, it shouldn't be a problem.

I heard they do the same thing at GAP and a few other stores.

@ my AE where I worked, we have had some people return pants for some crazy holes; in some cases they were more like huge rips down a pant leg. Its always funny to listen to a customer try to explain the reasoning. (btw, the person behind the counter wont care about the reason, I promise.)
