Mono

Dani- glad to hear you don't have it, but I wanted to add my story.
After fall semester my freshman year my mom and I went bra shopping. I went into a fitting room and couldn't reach my arms around to hook the hooks and my mom had to do it for me. My arms and legs ached so much. When we got home she called the dr who said that it sounded like a flu that was going around, so I went with it. When I went back to school I was tired and had really big bags under my eyes. My throat was killing me and every part of my body hurt. I went to the health care center and they tested me for strep and mono. The strep came back positive and the PA said that if my tonsils didn't shrink I was going to suffocate because I couldn't breath through my nose or mouth. I went back to the dorm really upset and told my roommate what was up. The mono test wasn't supposed to come in for a few days though. She went and told the head RA of the dorm that I had mono and the head RA came and told me I would have to leave. I told him the results weren't in and I would let him know as soon as I did. I went back a few days later and they said that the test showed that I had mono but to rest and come back a few days later. I went back a few days later and that test showed that I was at the end of the mono. They think I had it for a few months but was already on the back end of it. I let my roommate know as soon as I got home and never spoke to her again. My tonsils were never the same after that. Before that I had strep maybe 5 times my whole life. After the mono I had tonsilitis every 3 weeks. It got so frustrating that my Junior year I had my tonsils taken out. My spleen was never enlarged though. For years after that if I didn't take care of myself I would get really tired for weeks. Even now in law school I feel like it creeps up on me again.
That's my story.
Sorry it's long.
