A lot (sweeping generalization) of the people boycotting the Chicks wouldn't listen to Pearl Jam to begin with. Natalie Maines can say whatever she wants to say, but she should be aware that if her core audience doesn't agree with it, it will hurt her and her band's career. Why do you think Andy Gibb never said he was married? Why did Boy George always elude the question of his sexuality during Culture Club's heyday? Because it would have seriously messed up their careers.
