Last year Student Foundation gave out flip flops at "Big Red Welcome". They were the cheap kind like you'd buy at Old Navy for $2.50 but they were super popular!
Also have to say the Health Center giving out "condom roses" was very creative. They basically took a condom with a red label, twisted a couple into the shape of a flower and used a floral stem to finish it off...they give them away at valentine's day, and I know more than one guy who gave them to his girlfriend
(none in my house).
