I certainly can't speak for everyone else, but I didn't know anything about DG before college. We didn't have a DG chapter locally, and where I grew up the sororities I heard about were always Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Delta Delta Delta. My cousin was a Phi Mu, so that's how I was familiar with them.

None of these sororities were at my school, and when I found AOII I knew I was home. I have no doubt that if I'd gone to another school, I would have chosen AOII without hesitation no matter what other sorority was there. AOII has been instrumental in almost every milestone in my life. I seriously would not be who I am today without making the choice to join my sorority.

But, to be brutally honest--once I learned more about the other chapters at my school, I would have been a very happy Kappa Delta as well. The girls were similar to my own sisters, I was comfortable with their external symbols and mascots, and I had many friends who were KDs.

We've gotta love the internet though. It's great to find so much info about the different groups through their websites! I'm such a sorority geek sometimes
