as greek from another sorority, i applaude your thoughts on this subject matter.
i just wanted to give my $19.13 cents worth the situation in central park.
on sunday, i was listening to the radio (a popular hip hop station in nyc) and was highly disappointed, there was a brother on the radio almost condoning what happended in central park. his statement basically was "the code of the streets say you dress like a hoochie, men will feel you up like a hoochie"
some of the women were in attendance to the boriqua (puerto rican)parade and some where not. some were dress in little shorts and little tank tops and some women were regularly dressed. young men in packs would surround the women and spray them with water guns and sexually grope them.
what upsets me is, i've visited europe and i've been to nude beaches were people literally walk around naked and are not bothered. this guy was on the radio station so-call quoting the code of the streets stating if women dress provactively, then they will be treated like meat.
so this tells me, that if one day, it is hot and i decide to throw on some shorts (not too short) and a tank top and then go rollerblading in central park and some guys that see me and find me sexually attractive and spray me with water and sexual grope me...it's OK?????
now and days how much sexual control do men have. you don't find me running up to a guy and grabbing his crotch when i find him attractive (in my case not likely *lol*)
the funny thing is he even tried to condone it but saying it's a machismo thing. I THINK NOT!!!!
i urge the young men out there don't follow in this idiot's footsteps. women should be able to dress as they please although we do agree everyone doesn't look good in everything, but that's okay! it's called R.E.S.P.E.C.T! use it!!!
i didn't address the police aspect on it because i have mixed feelings, the induring the fact the 99.9% of my family are police officers.
but what's going on with the men today????
