This was a very good article. Ironically, the editor of this magazine is a friend of a friend, and she JUST passed her Ph.D comps... she is now ABD (All But Dissertation).
A lot of what was said in the article is SO true. At the lowest level, of having even just a BA/BS. Your family expects you to be the saving grace of everyone. It's like, dang, I can't do everything!!
And that part about ol' dude in Columbus, Ohio. MAN, if I haven't BEEN THERE and DONE THAT!!! I don't understand how and why we are so intimidating to these men. Here it is I am LOOKING for a man with whom I can have an intelligent conversation. Why don't they value the same thing? And why can't they understand that if we are with them, we are WITH THEM? If we don't have an issue with the educational differences, why the insecurities?
