I haven't read through this whole thread, so this may have been mentioned, but here goes:
I'm from So. California, and out-of-staters (with the exceptions of Nevada and Arizona, which are basically the same as California in my opinion) almost always ask if I live in LA. Like LA covers ALL of SoCal... bugs me, but they tend to understand when I tell them 60 miles east...
People don't believe it when Californians said they live or have lived on a farm (I spent the first few years of my life on a chicken farm)... obviously they've never been to Riverside county, or any other rural part of the state... hi, drive up the 5 towards NorCal... visit Bakersfield, Modesto, and Turlock on the way... then tell me there aren't any farms in California.
I also get the "do you like surfing" question, the "do you like wheatgrass" question, and the "do you know any celebrities" question... NO, NO, and NO!
