I'm a little confused because you say "that organization" does this and that. Does the AKA chapter on your campus do those things or are you speaking about organizations on you campus in general? Have you ever seen any notices posted in the past for an AKA rush?
I must admit that sometimes people think that we put up notices and take them down, but the truth is that sometimes non-members will take them because I'm guilty of it! Some of my line sisters and I realized that we took rush notices to keep as souvenirs. I know; shame on me. But I still have those flyers in my scrapbook.
Also, how close are you to the members that you know? You say that even the members you don't know seem to know you and your interest in the organization. I suppose whether or not they inform you of an upcoming rush and give you a verbal invitation depends on if they think you would make a worthy candidate. I remember getting verbal invites from sorors I was really close to even while notices were posted. I remember doing the same to young ladies who I felt would be an asset to my chapter and the sorority, but only if I were close to them as well.
If you were a close friend of mine, I would not be offended if you asked me and I knew you were truly sincere and wanted to be a member. However, if I knew you were interested I would inform you once the notices were ready for distribution.
I'm sorry for the long post. You may send me an e-mail if you need to.
