There's a movie called Ed Wood about the director. Includes a little of the background from Plan 9.
Several items of interest.. but my favorite would be the simulated flying saucers -- 2 paper plates glued together and you can see the string!

I love it when they're in the graveyard and one of the characters sort of trips into the tombstone and you can see it wobbling like it's made out of cardboard . . .
Or how about the scenes when, during the establishing shot, it's nighttime, and then they cut into the close-ups in the same scene and it's daytime, or vice versa -- with absolutely no explanation for it!
I gotta second the nominations for "Earth Girls Are Easy," and "Grease 2." The guy who plays Michael went on to play Sexy Rexy in "Empire Records!"
"Donnie Darko" is a really good movie too . . . and Jake Gyllenhaal is yummy. I have to admit I have a hard time buying his relationship with Jena Malone, though, considering the fact that she looks about 12 and he looks like he's 22.
