On the first day of school I saw a girl on campus who was wearing our colors. Now Sorors, I know that we do not own the colors but the manner in which she was wearing them it was apparent that she was trying to perp. Anyway, another student introduced me to her because I guess she thought she was a Soror. She knew that I was because from time to time I wear my "nalia". Well we do not have a patent on the colors but I assure you if you are an intrestee offending an AKA does not help your cause!!!!! Needless to say my mouth fell to the ground after her comment. No she didn't...
Number one why would you even have to justify yourself if you were not doing something wrong? When I was a sisterfriend one would never catch me in pink and green on campus. On the first day of school too? SIGH!!!!!
Secondly, why did this other student introduce us if she felt she wasn't a Soror? Ever since then every week she had on pink and green. As much as she wears the colors it would be easy for a non member to mistaken her as a Soror. Well, one day I came to class with my AKA jacket on and she was wearing her pink sweatsuit and green headband of all things. She saw me and didn't speak. I guess the jacket left her speechless. You see, my mentality was she might wear the colors but I earn the right to wear the letters. And what gets me is that she hasn't a clue to what Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc stands for.
