I too tried African Pride Highlights. I was going to get my hair professionally highlighted, but I am a college student, and as such thought it better to save some money

.
I highlighted my hair "Egyptian Clay" and as I washed it out I was horrified to see the water dripping from my head was purple!!!

The purple color was a false alarm though, because once it dried my highlights were more of a reddish color.
I was pretty happy with my highlights, and was receiving a lot of compliments on them until about I month after I applied the highlights. I didn't realize it, but my hair was gradually changing color, and not to a more mellow color either. My hair was turing BLONDE!!!
No kidding, the red highlights that once got rave reviews are now blonde. I still cannot believe it. Now I have to be careful of how I style my hair so the highlights are not so prominent.
My tip of the day: When it come to hair color...leave it to the professionals.
