As a non-member, I think PinkPassion08 makes a good point. Think also about the 'message' that you are sending the opportunist who purchase collectibles at garage sales, etc. only to sell them at a much higher price. Once they see the bidding war that goes on for the items, they will continue to seek them out because they realize their is a market for them. Black collectibles increased in popularity in the 80s and there for the prices increased. I think LadyAKA was correct in stating that the proper place to start is not with the Ebay folks, but with the members of the organizations so that they can make plans for their pins, books etc. at their passing.

Also, have you considered that when you bid you are probably bidding against another member and therefore just increasing the auctioner's profits. I wonder if there is a way to tell who is bidding on a particular item? (other than just their 'handle')
