i think that it depends on each individual. my husband moved to our currently location and still hasn't developed close friendships with other guys outside or work. he tends to be a loner. he now realizes that he needs to 'venture' out more.

on the other hand, i am more of the social butterfly and i have a host of friends and associates.

adjustments to a new area are difficult but i say be open to experiencing new things and just have fun!
