By now, you'd think Diana Ross would just stop driving and hire a chauffeur.
Less than three months after her embarrassing DUI arrest in Arizona, everyone's favorite diva has been involved in another, albeit much more minor, automobile mishap.
This time the lady was singing the blues after getting pulled over Sunday in Greenwich, Connecticut, for driving an unregistered car.
Ross, who has a home in the town, was flagged down after an eagle-eyed cop noticed she was driving a black Ford Taurus (yes, Ford Taurus) with an expired license plate. She tried to get out of the ticket, claiming she doesn't often drive the car because it is owned by her booking agency in Los Angeles, but the boys in blue weren't buying it.
The 58-year-old entertainer was stuck with a ticket and a $78 fine. Her publicist, Paul Bloch, could not immediately be reached for comment.
Her fans, who have remained loyal to the singer-actress through years of bizarre antics and tantrums, are still keeping the faith, however.
"This woman is a legend....you think she's gonna sweat 78 bucks? Please. Those stupid cops just did that so they could have something to tell the press about," defended one Ross lover on a Yahoo message board. "I'm sure they got paid off."
"Stop the presses--her registration expired," scoffed another fan. "I guess it's a slow news day."
The media attention to this latest ticket isn't completely unfounded. This is the second time in less than 90 days that the supreme Supreme has faced heat for poor behind-the-wheel performance. She was pulled over in December in Tucson, Arizona, after police spotted her driving erratically through the city's streets in the wee hours of the morning. She utterly botched various field sobriety tests and blew a 0.20 percent blood-alcohol level.
At the time, she was ticketed for three misdemeanors: driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over 0.08 and "extreme DUI" for having a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.15 percent.
Ross didn't appear for her January arraignment in Arizona. Instead, her legal team filed a "notice of appearance" claim and pleaded innocent on her behalf on all three charges.
Ross is due in court Wednesday in Tucson to stand trial for the DUI charges. Let's hope she doesn't drive herself.

LOS ANGELES - Chris Rock (news), whose edgy humor propelled him from standup comic to movie star, now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 37-year-old star of "The Chris Rock Show," which aired for four seasons on HBO, combined humble thanks with some of his trademark humor in remarks at the ceremony along Hollywood Boulevard.
Rock has been featured in several films, including "Dogma," "Down to Earth" and "Bad Company." He's directing for the first time with "Head of State," in which he also stars as a presidential candidate. The movie opens March 28.
