I understand that with the current NPC preference system that multiple bids couldn't work, and I personally don't want to change it. I just wonder how different it would be to make your choice after opening an envelope with more than one bid in it (as so many of my guy friends do) instead of making it the night before without any assurance of a bid at all. it's more of a fanciful fun question than a serious movement for change.
