So my on again off again boyfriend and I have been on again for about a month. When I broke up with him, I left some of my things at his place. During the year that we were together, he had given me several gifts of jewelry. I left some of them at his place. He returned my things the other day sans jewelry. I told him that he had forgotten to give me a few things. He handed me a little jewelry box containing diamond stud earrings and said that he had thrown out the jewelry that he had given to me. I thought that he was kidding because who does something like that?! Well, apparently my genius ex boyfriend did. I asked him if he threw the jewelry down the chute. He lives in a building with a garbage chute. He said that he had flushed them down the toilet.
He got drunk and mad and flushed them. He flushed
diamond earrings,
amethyst and diamond earrings, an amethyst bracelet
similar to this one, and a diamond heart pendant and chain. I know that this isn't the best jewelry in the world, but it was a gift from him so it meant something to me. I am more sad than mad and more confused than sad. He said that he would replace everything, but the thought that he could do this has made me ill. I know that this isn't the crime of the century, but I think that this is crazy behavior.
Any thoughts. advice, similar experiences? Am I the only one with a crazy ex?
