I just couldn't help posting a reply...
My name is Jareesa (like Teresa, but with a J). I'm from Detroit, and I thought my mom was just being ghetto fab, but actually, a white friend of hers came up with my name. People always say to me, Wow your name is so unique. Especially white people.
My boyfriend wants to name his first born son Messiah Jihad. I asked him, "you know that Jihad means holy war, right?" and he says, "yeah, I want it that way." WTH???
My group of friends have the following names:
Adia
Kameena
Senit
Maia (pronounced Mya)
Dejuan (boyfriend's name, pronounced like its spelled)
I would NEVER name my child something outrageous. You can't be a vice-president of marketing with the name Boomquisha. And what about 50 years from now, we gonna have all these grandmothers named Keesha. "Grandma Keesha" does not sound right, I'm sorry!
I actually want to name my daughter Anala, I think that's pretty tame. Any comments?
