I personally worried a lot about the girl in my chapter was president and then graduated and immediately became our advisor and she's great, don't get me wrong, but it's like this is her whole life. I think that's kind of sad. it's like she can't let go and she needs to feel "popular" and important. Because let's face it, never in your life will feel more popular and important then when you are running the best sorority on campus. But-Life should be more than just your sorority.
I agree, life is more than your sorority. And I also know what you mean about advisors too. This was part of the reason why I felt so odd about feeling this way about my chapter. I saw how our 30-40 year old advisors were OBSESSED by it, and all I could thing was "Get a life!" And then I wondered if maybe I was wrong by growing tired of it.

Anyway, I am grateful to everyone who is responding. It's really helpful to know this is normal.
