What I love about our IRD is that we almost always have it at a Country Club. We're fortunate to have some alumnae who are members...the food and the views are simply amazing!
Our Hawaii Alumnae Chapter was founded in 1936 and Delta Sigma chapter was established in 1992, so the majority of our alumnae are from other chapters. Chapter roll is always one of my most favorite times because so many chapters are represented in Hawaii.
We also have a time set aside to recognize some of our sisters that have recently moved away or are spending their first IRD away from us. Some write letters for the occasion, and these messages are read. It's a great way to remember them and at the same time be happy that they too are celebrating IRD wherever they're at.
My first ever IRD was indeed a special one. I had the pleasure of meeting Dorothy Wright, a sister from the Theta chapter at Goucher College (inactive) who was celebrating her 75th Anniversary. Here I was, initiated for about 2 hours...and here was Dottie--an AGD since 1925. I hope that we can all live that long to celebrate such a wonderful Jubilee.
