I sell cordless phones and actually I'll differ with you on that one. According to most of the consumer data I've looked at Panasonic phones are some of the best around. In my personal experience they are great phones. Yes, you have an occasional lemon but generally speaking they're good.
Cordless phones are like most electronics. You get what you pay for. At Radioshack they sell cordless phones for around $15. You can also spend $200 on a good Panasonic. My favorites are the phones that have the built in speakerphone on the handset -- VERY useful.
