Now you all see what I was talking about on previous posts about the Somali immigrants to Minnesota. I was in a roundtable on Saturday with one of our US Senators talking about the resources needed to fight HIV/AIDS in the state. People started talking about how we needed to fund culturally appropriate services for the large African-born population (the new phrase that's being used to distinguish from African Americans) infected with AIDS. I commented that the African American community has been asking for that for years and now all of a sudden it should be a priority for the African-born community?

The bottom line here is that the white power structure is finding ways to provide resources for Africans rather than for African Americans all under the guise of what they are doing for Blacks in Minnesota.
