Tikis aren't a "Los Angeles thing". These items are very specific to NPHC and MCGLO groups. Even though phisigduchesscv's university, Cal State U Dominguez Hills, has a very diverse campus, I am still surprised to hear that her NPC sorority wears them. Cal State U Long Beach (just 15mins down the freeway from CSUDH) is very diverse as well - though, if I tried wearing a tiki on campus, I'd probably get bizarre looks.
