I believe it would be more correct to say that Fraternity's are examples of Primary Groups, not ideological identities.
That would also explain rivalry more.
Most Fraternity and interfraternity behavior is easily explained by primary groups
Rival teams clash.
Rival sects exterminate each other.
Also, how often do we hear Chapter first? National second (if that)?
