Thumbs down

Toni Braxton's newest CD is NOTHING like her debut CD and sophomore effort. Those 2 CDs were the bomb.

Speaking of her CD, finally listened to it last night and quite frankly, I was soooooooo unimpressed. It was ho hum. Toni also is on the newest kick of an R&B singer having a rapper rap on her song. It works for some songs NOT ALL. Toni Braxton in my eyes is a high caliber music act along the lines of Anita Baker and Patti LaBelle, but the aforementioned songs suck. I need her to go back to Babyface and sad ballads.

Anyway I hope that Patti, Anita, The Temptations, etc. do not follow this new "trend." To insure that they do not, let me e-mail them.

Subject: Rappers Singing With You

Greetings Pioneers of the R&B Industry!! I just wanted to send you an e-mail asking you please do not get caught up in the R&B artist featuring a rapper on a single madness. Contrary to popular, uninformed belief it does not always make a hit record.

I never want to hear Patti singing "You Are My Friend" like this:

**musical background*
You aaaare my friend
I never knew it til now
My friend
My friend
You are my friend
You might not say a word. .. .

NELLY: YEAH you are my friend when it gets HOT IN HERRRRE and I need a pur of Air Force Ones while I am out E I E I Oing. . .

Patti if you EVER EVER EVER do anything like the above, I might have to revoke your CLASS ACT award.

Also before I go let me offer another piece of free advice: Just say no to Rodney Jerkins. He means well and he has some talent but that mofo should stop saying Darkchild and having those computerized beats that sound like they belong on Star Wars' Trek in the 2001 Odyssey.

Oh and on your next CD, can I have a shout out?
