Talking more on Heifer Project International

I'm so excited to see Heifer Project mentioned in this philanthropy thread!

I just started attending volunteer trainings and committee chair meetings for the Chicago branch of Heifer International, and I think I'm going to start doing presentations at schools and civic groups...I'll probably start with the Ag Science High School here in Chicago, and update them on some of the urban agriculture projects going on locally. I'd love to come visit some local Sigma Alpha chapters, too! I'm an alum from Alpha Rho at the University of Arizona.

I know of some gals at Wheaton College who sold Heifer pins at their school for $2 each and raised $7000 that went toward purchasing livestock gifts for people all over the world! The pins are so cute - they're small, about 1" diamter, and they're all different colors. Each has a different picture of an animal or plant on it with a cute slogan like "Fish Farm" (aquaculture), "Think Pig," "Treasure a Tree," "Love a Llama," "Bee Sweet," "Go Goat"...everything from water buffalo to sheep to rabbits to geese.

Let me know if you'd like a visit from somebody or if you'd like a bag of pins to sell as a philanthropy fundraiser (or even just to wear, to spread the word).
