Our chapter actually fundraised a lot from our own members. I wouldn't suggest that being your only option, but we ended up with enough money to buy a pool table. What we did was have a raffle every week at chapter. I think tickets were like $1 a piece, and if you got an A on something the tickets were only $0.50 and a B was $0.75. And I don't excatly remember, but there was something for if you went to all of your classes that week. This next part could be good and bad: even if you didn't have any money, you could still enter the raffle. The fundraising chair kept tabs on who owed what, and then when they owed more than $5, she hounded them until they paid (as in even threatening J-Board if it got bad). Prizes for the raffle were cute little things like stationary or candles. Everyone that bought tickets all semster, their names stayed in the jar until the end, when there was the drawing for the grand prize, which was something like free tickets to formal. You could change it around to fit your own chapter, but it worked pretty well.
