NAME: Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Full formal name is Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America)
FOUNDED AT: New England Conservatory of Music (Boston)
FOUNDING DATE: October 6, 1898
NICKNAME: Brothers are usually called Sinfonians, and usually call the Fraternity either Phi Mu Alpha or Sinfonia. (In the old days, it was sometimes "the Sinfonia.") I have also heard people (usually non-Sinfonians) say "PMA."
COLORS: Red, Black, and Gold.
FLOWER: Chrysanthemum (no color in particular)
SYMBOLS: Equilateral triangle, lyre
JEWEL: No official jewel, but the badge is set with 12 pearls and 6 garnets.
MASCOT: None. (But some might suggest that a black cat would be an appropriate mascot, since our early writings, songs and artwork -- and even the name of our first national newsletter -- contain enigmatic references to the "Mystic Cat."
