It sounds like your road may be a little slower-going because people are not as up-to-date on AI as others might be. IMHO, that's not a reason to be discouraged. I'd say shift down from overdrive to D2 and go with the flow.
Heck, the fact that you're being invited to more events is a *good* sign! I'll be glad when I get that far. (I'll bet any info from CP2K would help too.)
